Here at Gusting55 we believe in connecting surf communities together worldwide.
We created Gusting55 partly because we wanted to develop comfortable and recognizable surf wear, but also something that is at the heart of our Irish culture and spirit of community.
Surfing and the outdoors can be a great escape from the busyness of life. As surfers, we know the feeling of relaxing outback and patiently waiting for a set to grow on the horizon. But surfing has another side too, a traditionally individual sport with a large community behind it. This community should be celebrated and brought together.
Whether we are at the airport, shopping, grabbing a coffee or just at the beach we want our brand to send signals of approachablity and openness.We strive for that feel good factor of meeting new people with common interests and sparking off a simple chat.
The surfing community may seem small but we believe there is more of us out there then we may think. We want our amazing sport to grow. Striking up a chat can lead to sharing amazing stories, a friend for life, a new surf spot, getting to know local surfers, a free bunk on a surf trip and so much more.

How did we get here?
Born on a breezy beach in the southwest of Ireland, Gusting55 is a lifestyle clothing line and the passion project of our original founder with over 20 years of experience. The Irish design and functionality of our clothing is influenced by our team's extensive love for surfing and trying to create more of a social aspect to surf culture worldwide.
Whats with the brand name?
Overall - Gusting55 stands for an exciting, energy-driven lifestyle.
We wanted a name that can be remembered, flows and is relatable to our brand and Ireland.
Gusting - refers to a typical breezy Irish day. Although high winds are not ideal for a perfect surf session they are part of the formula to produce a swell while providing challenging conditions for kite surfers, sailors and other outdoor activities within our vast community.
55 - Is our favorite number and a little extra. Ireland's beautiful island is geographically positioned between the latitudes of its most southern tip at N 51° and its most northern tip at N 55°. Beyond the coast lies the colossal Atlantic Ocean. Here, massive storms brew with common wind speeds of 55 knots and more.
Putting the two together we came up with the catchy "Gusting55" which we hope will be easily recognizable worldwide and spark up a conversation.
